2024 July Kitchen Cupboard and Kitchen Repaint in Gloucester
This is the second time we came back to this house near Albion St. and Lester Rd., having done work for the customers around 10 years ago. Although the paint still looked good, it was the their time for a colour change - from a bluish grey to a more soft light-warm gray.
We painted the walls in entrance, powder room, dining and kitchen plus the living room and a stairwell. This job posed a challenge as there is a higher ceiling and skylight and some patch repair up high but it was done safely and properly. You couldn't even see where it was patched - which is the point right?
We patched and painted the walls, double checking to make sure we got wall divots with our hand light. They have some shiny hardwood floor so we laid out the Ram Board and made sure to protect it from damage.
More pics to come.
2024 June Kitchen Cupboard and Kitchen Repaint in the Riverdale Rd. Area
This really nice looking older home on the canal needed some more TLC.
This time the main work was to repaint the kitchen cabinets and bring them back as close as possible to a factory finish using a great new product by Sherwin Williams. It's designed only for restoring cabinetry to a factory melamine type smooth finish. It was David's first time using it so he took great care to do it right! He went deep with all his experience and it worked as planned and as intended.
We washed down the cabinets that we didn't need to do, which helped all of them have a unified look and colour. We refreshed the kitchen walls and did a number of other window and baseboard and trim touch ups to make them pop. We also painted in the master bath and did some minor reno work.
It turned out fantastic and the customer was beyond pleased. Below are a number of pictures of the process, a look at the old cabinets, and the smoothness of the restored faces.
All said, the job was a success!
2024 Spring House Gutting Resale Renovation Concrete Stairs Job in the Walkley Rd Area.
We picked up a large home gutting renovation for a home to be resold soon. Another contractor gutted it and we went to work. A big job and lots of work. The whole interior drywall was removed save for some and we brought it back to life with new drywall, paint, bathroom fixtures and kitchen cabinetry etc. The home had been smoked in for many many years. Break out the Zinsser! That stuff is so good at covering. We also did some concrete step repair.
2024 Spring Back for Round 3 in Johnston Rd. Area
We've been back to this home a few times - this was the last. We did the big push to get the Front Entrance, Hallway, Powder Room, Kitchen, Living Room and Stairwell plus the Upper Common Area outside the rooms and washroom. We also did the ceilings in all the areas. Lots of work for sure and two separate colors. The Benjamin Moore top-notch paint the customer wanted covered superbly.
We brightened up the trim with a nice white semi-gloss that made everything look "chef-kiss" amazing! The walls popped and looked so good in a lighter bone color. The kitchen was a lighter color and also looked so fresh!

The client had this to say about the work and our efforts to help them...
Just a short note to say thank you again to David for his wonderful work. We are incredibly happy with the outcome. The main floor is so bright now with the lighter paint. Serge was so impressed with his process in painting the high stairwell and the repair in the powder room. After hiring David for three projects in the last year and a half, it is bittersweet that all is complete now. He and Ivan are a joy to have working in our home. All is back in place and it feels like home…a brighter and fresher home.
2024 Spring Basement Reno Prime Check in Metcalfe
A number of jobs have gone by since the winter. Spring is here! This was a spring job south of Ottawa lightly patching and prime checking a large basement apartment in progress. A large kitchen great room area, two bedrooms and two washrooms. We used our trusty paint spray gun and rolled with a 14" super roller to make easy work of the priming and applying ceiling paint. Then we went at it with rollers on the first coat of wall paint prior to the next phase starting by other contractors. We'll be back here for trim and finish paint in due course. So white!
2024 March Minor Bathroom Tile and Paint Refresh in the Riverdale Rd. Area
This really nice looking older home on the canal needed some TLC. Some tile came off and had to be reinstalled as well as a repaint of the washroom walls and trim and some other minor alcove rooms downstairs along with a nice old steam radiator! A sleek and dreamy looking purple bathroom to soak in after a hard day. Soothing indeed. Back for more in May...
2023 Fall Flood Repair in the St. Laurent Rd. Area
Flood Damage Repair.
Only a snippet of what we did here.
Sadly, the client's two garages in a commercial development was flooded with a major rain event in October-November. We went in after all the proper remediation was completed and did a replace of all drywall that had to be removed. We placed the board, taped, primed and painted to match the existing colours.
It was a doozy to work around multiple shelves and in awkward positions! But we made out the other side - and the client was really happy! So we're happy too.
2023 Fall Upstairs Paint Refresh in the Johnston Rd. Area
This was a fall job in Ottawa lightly patching and repainting a darker, slightly dated colour palette. They changed from some darker earth tones to a more fresh and light palette. To protect their nice wood flooring, we laid down Ram Board and a lighter form of it in the main traffic lanes. And, of course, we covered everything delicate with drop cloths or plastic. We did an upper office "plant room", main bathroom, guest room and master bedroom and ensuite bathroom. Now the rooms looks so bright and feel great! Their office "plant room" pops with the new look!
Check out the 2024 Spring return to this home.

2023 Summer Extensive Repaint in the Carp Rd. Area
This job was a summer job in Kanata Carp lightly patching and repainting main entrance, living great room, living entertainment room, dining room, multiple bedrooms and washrooms to a nice dusty rose colour. Of course we covered up all the floors and bannister to save it from the paint. Nice and fresh and another happy client.
2023 Spring Full Repaint in the Conroy Rd. Area
This job was a spring job in Ottawa lightly patching and repainting a darker earthy green in the living room and some other rooms to a refreshing light grey colour. We used Zinsser 1-2-3 primer which gives a great coverage to mask darker walls. Now the house looks so bright and feels great!
2023 Spring Storm Damage in the Pinecrest Rd. and Baseline Rd. Area
This job was a spring job working in collaboration with the a condominium in Ottawa. A major storm caused damage to the side of the house. We replaced vapor barrier and installed the new drywall, patched and primed the ceiling and walls. You can't see the difference from what was there before.
2023 Spring Renovation in the Blair Rd. Area
This job was a winter/spring job working in collaboration with the client and a larger renovation. We prime-checked the kitchen area and repainted the eating area of the kitchen to a light and refreshing earthy orange colour. The dining room was repainted from a bright wine colour from many years ago to a more subdued champagne color. We also closed up an entryway to be part of the existing wall and painted up the stairwell. The client loves her choices and refreshed decor.
2022 Winter Bank St. and Walkley Rd. Area
This job was in November 2022 sprucing up a war era home. The client switched from an older colour scheme to a more modern cool grey and blue theme throughout the house that looks spot on with their new flooring! We provided some real TLC. We did extensive patching on the old style plaster walls in the lower rooms, priming and a full repaint of the living room, office, bathroom, kitchen, stairwell and upper bedrooms. One wall required bolstering the wall's existing older plaster with significant Durabond 90 and then reinstalling a long length of baseboard. The team used a DEWALT battery-operated pole sander and regular oscillating sander connected to vacuums to reduce dust. To minimize damage to the floor, we laid a thin cardboard-like roll in traffic areas.
